Here's My Story

God had always given me a desire to reach out to hurting souls, especially women. It could be because I have been one of those women. So, it’s important to me to be real with everyone, and share with you thing adversity I’ve faced in life.

My heart’s desire is to reach out those who are facing difficulty in life. Most of us have seen trying times, and can often use the prayers of those around us to pull through the muddy days. We are placed on this earth to make a difference for others, and if we aren’t doing that, we should re-evaluate.

I know what it’s like to face uncertain days, and that is a huge reason for a new season. This new season will offer women’s conferences geared toward healing, and encouragement. It will give new hope to those who are struggling to face each day, and a reason to begin again. We are God’s creatures, and He loves us, and wants what’s good for us. I’ve seen many days when I wondered how in the world this could be for my good. Romans 8:28 tells me that all things work for my good, not some, but all. Surely, the difficult times have made me stronger in Christ, and they grow my faith more every day.

God has provided new and exciting music for solo dates at your events, and churches. I am honored to begin a new season, and have an opportunity to share my life with you in song, and life experiences.

So, to begin this season, it was necessary for me to step off the road, and take on a new challenge. If you would like to hear, and see what this season holds for us, contact me. It would be a pleasure to worship with you! God’s plan is always perfect!

Where It All Began

My life in ministry began at a very young age. My earliest memories of singing for the Lord began the age of four. My dad was pastoring a church in the mountains of East Tennessee. A gentleman there by the name of Ray King, offered a shiny new fifty cent piece. There was one catch to his offer; I had to sing Jesus Loves Me, in front of the church crowd. As a child, I was intrigued, and of course I accepted the challenge. That was the day ministry began for me!

Throughout my childhood, I felt a strange pull to sing His praises. I was always blessed with volume. Often, I’ve said, “when God was handing out volume, I stood in line four times”. My dad had the same gift, so it was natural for me to sing loud.

As I grew, it continued to be my desire to serve the Lord in song. During my teen years, I played the piano for our youth choir at Bible Baptist Church in Maryville TN. We traveled all over East Tennessee in a bus on Saturday nights. Those singings were prevalent during those times. We loved every minute of it! At the same time, I sang and played the piano with my dad, and moms group called the Soul Searchers, all the while singing and playing for myself as a solo artist. Church, and singing was such an intricate part of who I am today, and it all began with those simpler times. It was wonderful, to say the least. My parents instilled in me a love for singing, and that carries on still today.

I sang with many different people in my church while growing up, but my first real group was called the Conquerors. It was short lived, but all of these people were part of our church family, and it also included my brother Gerald, who was an amazing bass guitarist. There were a few other church made groups along the way, and there was some traveling associated with each of them.

Singing at weddings, and funerals became a regular occurrence for me, and singing in my church was a given. Still, something was missing for me.

In 2005 two gentlemen from home church New Hope Baptist in Maryville TN, felt they should sponsor a solo project, and process began. My first solo project was recorded, and the musicians were our church band, and the studio owners. That recording began a solo ministry, and I began traveling locally. By 2008 I had been singing solo, and I was introduced to Chapel Valley Studios. Another solo project was born, and more local travel was in my future.

After a time of more solo ministry, I was introduced to a local group called His Voice. It was with this group that my love for ministry continued to grow. There were three years with this group, and many friendships were developed.

It wasn’t until 2013 that things really began to take shape for Corky Long, and what God had for ministry. A mutual friend introduced me to Jack Allen. He had a vision, and wanted to begin a ministry called Messiahs Call. Well, when I say it was the beginning of my dream of what ministry should be. We built the ministry together from the ground up. Throughout the six years we ministered together, there was a lot of travel. We literally traveled the country, traveling many miles as Messiahs Call. During that time, I gained so many friendships, and traveled so many miles. My dreams for what I felt ministry should be were experienced through Messiahs Call. It was in the fall of 2018 when my lifelong dream of singing on the mainstage at National Quartet Convention would be experienced. I am so thankful for the time I spent with Jack Allen, and Messiahs Call. I learned so many things during my six year tenure with them. It was actually Jack, who helped me learn to tame the “somewhat loud” vocal I possessed. Thanks Jack! I love these guys with all of my heart, and that will never change!
